The Verdict on Our Hurricane Manicures!

It's gorgeous in South Jersey today, but my mom and I are still enjoying our Hurricane Irene manicures! Here's the verdict on our color choices:

I went with the totally chic (IMHO) khaki-olive-milk chocolate hybrid, OPI's new A-Taupe the Space Needle for my tips and toes:

While (camera-shy) Mama C chose a gold-laced coral, OPI Bright Lights-Big Color:

Did any other local beauty junkies curl up with their favorite lacquer to weather the weather?

How to Make a Natural Disaster a Little More Fabulous

I live in South Jersey, where Hurricane Irene is currently threatening to keep me housebound for 2 days. Me no likey. :(

Instead of letting myself get stir-crazy, I'm taking advantage of my shut-in status by getting ahead of next week's writing gigs (since I start class soon and need to get myself on a more regular writing schedule) -- and having a full-blown, mani-pedi-spa night! My mom's getting in on the action, too!

Now I just need to decide which new fall hue I'll don on my tootsies for the next 2 weeks... The choices are:

OPI Get in the Espresso Lane:

OPI Honk if You Love OPI:

OPI I Eat Mainely Lobster (the wildcard):

Now if only the power holds out so we won't be mani-pedi-ing by candlelight!

Back to School...

It's official. Today I registered (and paid for!) my first college course since I received my shiny Bachelor's Degree from the University of Maryland in 2007. It sounds ambitious and exciting until you realize that it's not a Master's course for which I forked over nearly $400 -- but a 100-level undergraduate class. At my local community college.

Wipe those puzzled looks off your faces while I explain!

The class is FAD 150: The Fashion Industry, and since I already make a (quasi) living writing fashion, beauty and lifestyle web content, I thought it might be worthwhile to formalize my lifelong interest  obsession with all things frilly, frothy and utterly fashionable! And who knows? Maybe it'll lead to another writing gig or two -- or (gasp!) even a real, grown-up job?

In the meantime, I'm looking forward to blogging my way backwards into a field that finally fits! Stay tuned! xo
